Teachable Safety Skills: Replacing Myths with Facts

How do I talk to children about personal safety without scaring them to death? This presentation provides current information about various safety concerns children and teen are facing today, both in-person and online, and how to educate youth on those concerns in a positive way.

 

Objectives:

  • Recognize the myths that commonly surround personal safety for children including the Stranger Danger myth.

  • Use the tools provided to create a family safety night following the workshop.

  • Create a connect 5 safety net for your family.

  • Identify reasons that personal safety education should INCREASE at puberty instead of decrease.

  • Each attendee will be able to apply at least three of the best practices for prevention with the families they serve.
