Teachable Safety Skills: Replacing Myths with Facts
How do I talk to children about personal safety without scaring them to death? This presentation provides current information about various safety concerns children and teen are facing today, both in-person and online, and how to educate youth on those concerns in a positive way.
Objectives:
Recognize the myths that commonly surround personal safety for children including the Stranger Danger myth.
Use the tools provided to create a family safety night following the workshop.
Create a connect 5 safety net for your family.
Identify reasons that personal safety education should INCREASE at puberty instead of decrease.
Each attendee will be able to apply at least three of the best practices for prevention with the families they serve.
