CornerHouse trainers are experienced and experts in a wide range of topics related to child maltreatment, victimization, trauma and abuse across the lifespan. In addition to the thousands of professionals who are trained each year in our CornerHouse Forensic Interviewing Protocol, we wanted to find a way to expand our reach of learners and topics; CornerHouse From the Expert Series fits that goal.

CornerHouse Guiding Principles: How the Lobby Orients Children to the Children's Advocacy Center

Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) are an essential component of the response to child sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect. At CornerHouse, advocacy services, forensic interviewing, and therapy each use a trauma-informed protocol in efforts to prevent and respond to instances of maltreatment of children. Such efforts extend to every interaction with the children and caregivers at a CAC, including those at the front door and in our lobby.

    At CornerHouse, Forensic Services Specialists play a crucial role in supporting individuals and families navigating forensic interview processes. They create a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment for clients before, during, and after interviews.

  • April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. CACs are essential to the response to child sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect. Each individual working at a CAC plays a crucial role in creating safe and supportive environments for children and families using trauma-informed, and child-centered practices.
