Blocks and Problems; Recognizing Challenges and Opportunities in the Forensic Interview
Abstract:
There are often factors that may influence an individual’s willingness and ability to tell of their experiences within a forensic interview. Such blocks or barriers may be the result of circumstances prior to the interview, or may be those which arise during the interview itself. This presentation is designed to enable forensic interviewers and other members of the multidisciplinary team – such as law enforcement or child protection investigators and prosecuting attorneys -- to effectively respond to the needs of children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults through preparing for potential challenges as well as recognizing blocks for individuals during the forensic interview and employing necessary block removal techniques.
