Description:
As a professional, it will inevitably come time to provide expert or fact witness testimony in a court of law. There are three primary areas to focus on to become competent witnesses: preparation, in court testimony and reflection after conclusion. In this training, learners will understand how to set themselves up for success through careful, planful preparation. Tips, advice, tricks, and knowledge about testifying in civil, dependency and criminal proceedings will be shared including real-life examples both of cases that went well and opportunities for improvement. Lastly, focus will be on how to mindfully reflect on the experience to continuously improve. This training is tailored to be for advanced or beginner learners, depending on the needs of your team.
Objectives:
Understand basic concepts and knowledge required before even entering the courtroom.
Gain an understanding of the three recommended methods to gain and increase competency in testifying.
Through firsthand examples, as well as literature, be comfortable stepping into the courtroom, even if it’s the first time.
